Pony Psychology.

With the rising recognition of natural horsemanship methodologies, more of us are studying the underlying pony psychology on which it is based. When we chat about the psychology of the pony, what do we mean? Essentially, pony psychology is the study of how a pony thinks, and why he does what he does. So then, what's the point of studying pony psychology? Melvin Bradley from the Dep. of Animal Sciences at the School of Missouri claims : "Modern pony psychology tries to anticipate possible behavior of horses under different conditions and create those conditions that inspire replies consistent with goals of the pony handler.

Pony Coaching For Snoozing Horses.

If you rode a pony that would stop and refuse to move forward then you would know how positively irritating it is.

What other reasons are there for napping? One is the pony simply does not know what to do. If your pony sleeps in a country he is acquainted with ( ie. Your house area ) then you check your tack for stuff like a bad fitting saddle.

The discomfort could eventually become intolerable and the pony simply will not move.

Usually horses will react to bad fitting tack by rearing or bucking. So when tack is bad fitting, snoozing is a good alternative compared to rearing or bucking.

A secret tip about nappers is to closely observe where they are asleep. You need to talk to them, pet them, and bide your time. Since they won't talk our language we should think thru what we assert to them when we'd like certain replies from them.

But the issue is this. Frequently the word "whoa" is recounted when the rider wants the pony to decelerate.

Therefore , when you are saying "whoa" to your pony, you must only say it because you would like to stop.
